Coaches
Simon Pitfield - Fencing Master, Owner
Simon started fencing in 1995 at UC Davis. In 1998 he was the co-founder of the City of Davis fencing program and opened the Davis Fencing Academy in 1999. In 2000 he received his Maitre d'Armes (Fencing Master) degree from the French Academy of Arms in Paris. Simon is presently the owner and head coach of the DFA.
Dick Berry - Coach
Dick has fenced for over 62 years (starting at the age of 16) and is a
five-time National Champion. He co-founded the City of Davis fencing program and presently coaches the after-school program at NFC in Davis, focusing on beginning children and adults.
Dave Leveque - Coach
Coach Leveque has fenced for over a decade and has taught many fencers over the years. Dave Leveque coaches the Woodland Marauders through the Woodland Parks and Recreation classes. Dave holds the unique distinction of being the only member of the club nationally rated in all 3 weapons (Saber Foil and Epee).

Kevin
Murakoshi - Provost at Arms
Kevin recently
graduated with his Provost at Arms degree from the San Jose State Fencing
Masters Program. His interests span the entire history of swordplay, from the
rapier to the modern three weapons. Currently he co-coaches the Historical
Fencing program, and offers private lessons throughout the week.
Puck Curtis -
Maestro at Arms
Puck began studying historical fencing in 1992 and began
researching Spanish fencing in 1994. He is the co-founder of the
Destreza Translation and
Research Project
and is certified to teach classical Italian fencing as a Master at Arms
through the San Jose Fencing Master's program. He is also a member of the
SCA's Order of the White Scarf, and the Tattershall School of Defense. At DFA,
Puck leads the Historical Fencing Program.
Elliot Rogers -
Assistant Coach
Elliot is a high rated foilist. El coaches the footworking
class on Monday and Wednesday.
Marty Wyma -
Assistant Coach
Marty is a high rated foilist. Marty coaches the
intermediate classes Monday through Thursday, the footworking class on
Tuesday and Thursday, and the Saturday Vacaville introductory/intermediate
class.
Chris Whitmore -
Assistant Coach
Chris is a nationally ranked Cadet Epee fencer. Chris
coaches the introductory class on Tuesday and Thursday.
TaoTao Chu -
Assistant Coach TaoTao is a saber
fencer and coaches the
introductory class on Monday and Wednesday.
