Fencing In The Schools

Fall of 2022: Davis Fencing Academy worked with DJUSD and USA Fencing to bring fencing to our local schools. The program provides 6+ hours of instruction to all students in 4th-9th grades at participating schools (ALL DJUSD elementary and junior high schools have the opportunity to participate). Fencing is one of the top sports for college recruitment and we love the opportunity increase awareness of our sport.

Disaster Relief Fundraisers

Over the years, Davis Fencing Academy has raised thousands of dollars for those effected by natural disasters. Whether we offer specialty fencing programs or laser fun runs, we are always looking for ways to give back. We have contributed to the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina and the Mexico Earthquake. Closer to home, we have helped a variety of community organizations with donations and raised money to cover vandalism at DHS. Please contact us at davispentathlon@gmail.com if you wish to help organize a fundraiser.

North Davis Elementary

Since 2007 Davis Fencing Academy has provided a fencing P.E. unit for grades 4-6 at North Davis Elementary School. We provide equipment and instruction so every student receives three fencing lessons (footwork, bladework, and bouting).

National Youth Sports Program

One of our first community outreach events was working with the National Youth Sports Program at UC Davis. For several years, NYSP bussed up to 500 low income students from Yolo and Solano counties for a five week of summer program. While the program was centered around a variety of sports, it also included English, math, science, and health programming. The inclusion of fencing in the Davis program was unique and brought attention of the national organization. Our first year saw the program awarded as a Silvie O. Conte finalist and the second year the program won the recognition as the top program in the country.
